Markquise Wallace pleads not guilty in fatal hit-and-run on Cervantes
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
A man charged in a deadly hit-and-run on Cervantes Street and fleeing the state was due in court on Friday.
Markquise Wallace did not appear in court, but his legal counsel submitted his plea, which was not guilty.
Wallace has been accused of hitting two woman and an infant with a rental car, killing one of the women and infant, and then fleeing the scene on June 6.
The State Attorney’s Office and Pensacola Police Department say they placed Wallace at the scene by tracing a GPS monitor he was wearing due to an unrelated case.
Data from the monitor clocked him traveling more than 90 miles per hour at the time of the fatal hit-and-run.
Wallace later fled the state and was captured on July 24 in Philadelphia.
