A Milton man is facing felony charges, police said for damaging a portion of the Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Pensacola.

According to an arrest report, 55 year-old Robert Link damaged a section on the memorial display that contained a piece of the World Trade Center.

He reportedly damaged the display for the first time on Wednesday of last week and returned again on Saturday and damaged it a second time.

Link hung onto the display and his body weight caused it to bend.

He has been charged with felony criminal mischief.

Pensacola Police Chief Tommi Lyter wishes to remind everyone that the park is a place to reflect on the heroes of our country and should be treated in the same manner as a cemetery.
