Milton man charged with hitting pregnant girlfriend with tortillas

A Milton man is charged with battery and aggravated battery against his live-in girlfriend. Jail records show he is also charged with violation of probation.

Santa Rosa County deputies arrested 30-year-old Rusty Beatty on Tuesday.

According to the arrest report, Beatty's girlfriend told deputies he hit her in the face with a bag of tortillas.

The report says Beatty then shoved the girlfriend's daughter into a wall and hit her in the face.

According to the report, the girlfriend said the argument started when she told Beatty she was pregnant and that the baby might not be his.

A deputy found Beatty walking nearby and asked for his version of events.

The report says Beatty told deputies that he was the one attacked and that he'd been hit in the face with a box fan.

According to the report, deputies did not see a box fan in the home, but they did find a bag of tortillas in a bedroom.

Beatty has a history of arrests in Santa Rosa County. In 2015, he was adjudicated guilty on charges including grand theft and burglary.

Court records show arrests in 2017 for battery and simple assault, both related to domestic violence.

Last year, he was adjudicated guilty of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs, and in a separate case, he was adjudicated guilty of petit theft.

He was arrested again in January 2019 for domestic violence-related simple assault, but the charge was later dropped.
