State troopers say a Navarre man died after his car was hit by a truck Tuesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, 26-year-old Richard G. Litterst was driving in the southbound lane of Edgewood Drive approaching a red light at the intersection of Highway 98.

During this time, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 30-year-old Geri D. Morse was driving in the westbound lane of Highway 98 and approaching a green light at the same intersection.

The report states Litterst "disregarded the red traffic signal, drove around stopped traffic and proceeded south, into the intersection of Highway 98."

State troopers said both vehicles entered the intersection and the front of Morse's Silverado collided with the left side of Litterst's Chevrolet Cobalt.

Litterst was taken to Gulf Breeze Hospital for his injuries, where he later died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

Morse and two passengers had minor injuries from the collision.

The report said charges are pending the outcome of a traffic homicide investigation.
