New Okaloosa County judge sworn in and making history
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
An assistant state attorney has been sworn in as Okaloosa County’s newest judge.
After 11 years as a prosecutor, 41-year-old Destin native Angela Mason will move to the bench. Plus, she’s making history.
Mason is the first Destin native ever to be appointed Okaloosa County Circuit Judge.
Mason is replacing Judge T. Patterson Maney, who retired in May.
She has prosecuted several recent high-profile cases in Okaloosa County.
Mason’s first assignment will be Friday, where she’ll preside over veterans’ court. It’s a program designed to put veterans in diversion programs and keep them out of jail.
