PENSACOLA, FLA. (WEAR-TV) —
Showers and thunderstorms near the Yucatán peninsula are part of a disturbed weather pattern that is becoming more organized. As of Tuesday afternoon, the formation chance is 50% through 2 days and 70% through 5 days.
The National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression is likely to form by Thursday night while the disturbance moves across the western Gulf of Mexico.
Hurricane hunters have scheduled a flight Wednesday to check out the system.
