OCSO: 11-year-old student wrote note threatening to kill his teacher
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
An 11-year-old middle school student is accused of writing a note threatening to kill his teacher. He told an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) school resource officer it was "more of a joke," according to a report written by the arresting officer.
A student found the handwritten note outlining the threat in the boys' bathroom at Meigs Middle School Tuesday around 7 a.m., according to the OCSO. They turned the note over to the school resource officer and the investigation began.
In it, the report states, the handwritten note specifically mentioned an intention to kill a teacher. It was traced to the student, who said he wrote it in 2017 because he was angry with his teacher, according to the report.
The child was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) due to the OCSO's zero tolerance policy in regards to school threats.
