A Pensacola cocktail lounge is offering free drinks to furloughed federal employees this weekend.

Azalea Cocktail Lounge is offering a free drink on the house to government employees on Saturday January 12 through Sunday January 13.

Larry B. Johnson, owner of Azalea Cocktail Lounge told Channel 3 News in a statement,

“For more than 70 years, the Azalea has been a part of this community. We’ve tried to be there for our neighbors in good times and bad. We’re proud to support local a lot of local nonprofits throughout the year. And we stand with and support our local federal employees who are going without pay because of the dysfunction in Washington.”

The government shut down has impacted more than 19,000 federal employees in the Pensacola area.

Johnson says, affected federal workers should bring their federal identification badge or a business card in order to receive their first drink on the house.

Azalea Cocktail Lounge is located at 810 North Davis Street near the intersection of Davis and Cervantes Streets.

The lounge is open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 a.m.
