L.D. McArthur Elementary School in Pensacola evacuated the east wing of the campus on Wednesday.

Escambia County Fire-Rescue received a call about a possible fire at the school on East Nine Mile Road at 1:30 p.m.

When the fire department arrived they found a light smokey haze in the east wing, also known as the second-grade hallway.

Fire officials traced it to a heating unit that possibly had dust on it.

After the smoke cleared, children were allowed back inside the school.
