Pensacola man charged in fatal I-10 hit-and-run
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WEAR) —
A Pensacola man has been arrested and charged in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred near Loxley, Alabama Thursday night.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 43-year-old Maria Osorio was originally a passenger in a vehicle that had pulled onto the shoulder of eastbound Interstate 10 near mile marker 43.
ALEA said Osorio got out of the vehicle and, for unknown reasons, walked into the roadway where she was struck and killed by a vehicle that left the scene.
Alabama state troopers found a truck at a service station at Alabama 59 and County Road 64 they believe was involved in the fatal collision.
The Florida Highway Patrol was able to help identify the registered owner of the vehicle as 48-year-old Ronald Milford Sims, ALEA reports. He was arrested Friday evening and charged for leaving the scene of an accident.
Sims was booked into the Baldwin County Jail and has been released on bond, according to the Baldwin County Jail online log.
