ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot dead Monday morning in Escambia County.

Escambia County deputies were called to a residence on R Street near Godfrey Street around 7:45 a.m.

The call was originally dispatched as an overdose before deputies arrived and found the man dead with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was in his 30s, according to the sheriff's office.

There are no known suspects at this time.

No further details were released.
