Rain and possible strong thunderstorms expected for Sunday

Graphic Source: WEAR

The much-anticipated rain is on the way and your "Sunday Funday" may need to take place indoors.

The best chance for strong-to-severe thunderstorms across the WEAR-TV area will be in the afternoon, though a late morning downpour isn't out of the question.

The Storm Prediction Center maintains a Marginal Risk for severe weather (threat level one on a scale of five) for northwest Florida and south Alabama with a Slight Risk (threat level two) to our west.

The biggest local concerns would be the possibility of damaging winds, large hail, or even isolated tornadoes.

Our Futurecast has the line of showers approaching the WEAR-TV area just after 12:00 p.m. and moving across the region throughout the afternoon. By early evening most of the rain will be gone as will the threat of thunderstorms.

It will get cooler Sunday night behind the cold front and you can expect Monday morning temps to be 15 to 20 degrees lower than they were Sunday morning. The work week looks pretty with a chill in the air
