Recreational marijuana gaining support with petitions in Florida
The state's ban on smokable marijuana is sparking new efforts to fully legalize the drug.
Right now there are two petitions gaining signatures for the 2018 election that would legalize recreational use.
Just last week Attorney John Morgan filed a lawsuit against the state challenging the smoking ban in the medical marijuana law.
But opponents are defending the rules put in place by state lawmakers.
"If they can vape I don't see what the argument is about not being able to smoke," said Drug Free America Deputy Director Amy Ronshausen. "It would be another thing if the legislature said you can't smoke it, you can't vape it and you can't have edible."
Similar ballot measures have come up in the past, but none of them have received enough support to make it onto the ballot.
