A man in the U.S. Air Force was charged with child neglect with great bodily harm for the death of an 8-month-old girl, according to an arrest report.

Spencer Wyatt Hause picked the baby girl up from her mother on April 14th, the report says.

The next day, April 15th, between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., the 22-year-old left the 8-month-old baby home alone to go purchase alcohol, the report said.

The baby arrived at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center (FWBC) at 1:33 p.m. showing no signs of life and was pronounced dead 2:03 p.m.

The report obtained by Channel 3 News does not outline what happened between 10 a.m. and the time the 8-month-old arrived at the hospital. It does not say how the child died.

Hause was questioned by a deputy at the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a report, in a post-Miranda statement, Hause stated, “you’re right. I need to own up before it goes too far."

He continued stating, “Before you track down stuff, I want a lawyer..I did sleep on the bed. I was not with [redacted], but I do want a lawyer," the report states.

According to the report, the victim’s mother, grandmother and Hause’s sister stated the child was born premature at 27 weeks.

Hause was arrested on August 14th at Hulburt Field, the report states, and charged with “child neglect with great bodily harm.”

He is being held without bond in the Okaloosa County Jail.

According to the report, Hause is an air traffic controller with the U.S. Air Force.
