A Pace man is behind bars after a report claimed he said he was going to kill his neighbors "with kindness".

According to the arrest report, neighbors could hear banging and yelling coming from a home located on the 6400-block of Bruce Lane and witnessed Bryan Duane Stewart say, “he was going to ‘kill’em with kindness’”.

The neighbors stated in the report they went to the home because a woman and a child were inside.

Stewart grabbed a small machete knife with the words “kindness” written on the side of it and tried to stab one of the neighbors, a report states.

Another neighbor tried to help, but was cut on the hand by the machete.

When authorities arrived, Stewart smelled of strong alcohol and his eyes were red, a report states.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies said Stewart became belligerent, very aggressive, and kept banging his head on the patrol unit.

Stewart is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery of a person with a deadly weapon.
