REPORT: Pensacola man beats child for taking long shower

Escambia County, Fla. (WEAR-TV) - A Pensacola man has been arrested for allegedly punching a child repeatedly for taking too long in the shower.

A report states the victim reported the abuse to an officer who works for the Pensacola Police Department (PPD) and serves as a school resource officer at Pensacola High School.

The report said John Paul Damas, 40, allegedly barged into the restroom at a home and began punching the child in the face with a closed fist.

According to the report, the child got out to put on clothes. It states Damas followed the child and began punching the child in the back and chest area and the child put up their arms to avoid getting hit.

PPD talk to a witness at the home and later arrested Damas on Palafox and Maxwell Street.

Damas is now charged with one felony count of child abuse.
