ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 28-year-old Century man has been sentenced to life in prison for a November 2020 shooting that killed one person and injured two others.
Jaran Britt Myles was found guilty Wednesday of first degree murder for the death of Joseph Christopher Smith. He was also found not guilty on two counts of aggravated battery for two others that were shot.
Judge John Simon then sentenced Myles to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Myles was previously sentenced last year to 45 years in state prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of his probation on a 2015 conviction for manslaughter with a firearm.
The shooting happened on November 30, 2020 at a home on Alger Road.
Following the November 2020 shooting, deputies arrested Myles at the Liquor Liquor Cabinet on Highway 29 at Old Chemstrand Road in Gonzalez. He attempted to hide a gun on the store shelves.
Tacorius Cordale Stallworth was also sentenced to life in prison last June for the November 2020 shooting. He was convicted of first degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery.
E’Monee DeMontae Long was initially indicted in the shooting, but the charges have since been dropped. Kiaunna Grice was also charged, but her charges were then dismissed.
