Five people have been confirmed dead after a twin engine plane crashed in Polk County early Saturday morning, according to deputies.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, John Shannon, his daughters Victoria and Olivia, Victoria's husband and family friend Krysta were all on board.

PCSO says the plane crashed near the end of a runway at Durrance Rd. on Bartow Airbase.

Sheriff Judd from PCSO said "that all indications point to the plane was in the air and then crashed."

Judd says "If you could see the crash site you would know no one suffered."

PCSO does not know why the plane crashed, but at the time of take off it was foggy outside. Deputies cannot confirm the identity or the number of deaths at this time.

Polk County Fire Rescue arrived to the scene around 7:31 a.m. and found the plane fully engulfed. The fire was out at 7:44 a.m.

FAA and NTSB is on scene.

PCSO will do the death investigations. They have not identified the people on the plane.
