ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR-TV) —
An Escambia County property owner has been ordered to stop cutting down a tree.
The Oak tree sits on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Chicago Avenue.
A viewer saw the tree coming down and called Channel 3 News.
We soon found out no permit was issued for removal. Code enforcement visited the site.
They found it's a 65-inch Heritage Oak, and ordered the removal to stop.
Permits are required for removing trees more than 12-inches in diameter.
Any Oak tree over 60-inches across is considered a Heritage Oak.
