A Milton man is behind bars after deputies say he allegedly stole from a church.

According to an arrest report, 31-year- old, Christopher Brian Spears was caught on a surveillance camera stealing money and other items from a local church.

The report states, deputies received a burglary in progress complaint on Tuesday at Victory Life Church.

While in route to the church, deputies were given a description of the alleged burglar suspect, says the report.

The report revealed, the suspect was described as a white male with brown hair, who was wearing a gray t-shirt and black shorts.

When the detective arrived at the church, the burglar was nowhere to be found on the property, says the report.

According to the report, a detective noticed a man, matching the description of the suspect, riding a bicycle west on Highway 90 near the church.

The arrest report says, when the detective attempted to stop Spears, he turned north on Dale Street then attempted to flee law enforcement on his bicycle then on foot.

While Spears was fleeing, SRCSO by foot he dropped a plastic grocery bag which contained nine bottles of Kool-Aid juice and a Yeti tumbler cup, says the report.

The report states, Spears was apprehended by deputies in the woods near the intersection of Cathy and Diana Streets.

When deputies arrested Spears, the report states $7 was found in Spears's right front pocket, which was reportedly the exactly the amount of cash missing from the church office.

Spears is charged spear with burglary, petit theft, and resisting arrest without violence and is being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail on a $10,500 bond.
