Northwest Florida is trading the higher rain chances for higher heat this weekend.

Our area will enter a more typical summertime pattern this weekend with slight rain chances and high heat and humidity.

A few pop-up storms will be possible this weekend, some of which may be strong and produce frequent lightning and gusty winds, but overall, the chance is rather low.

The main topic this weekend will be the dangerous heat.

More sun than clouds and rain on Saturday and Sunday will lead to higher temperatures in the mid 90s. The high humidity will lead to heat index values around 106F-113F.

The National Weather Service of Mobile will likely issue a heat advisory for our area this weekend.

The NWS of Mobile says, "A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and check up on relatives and neighbors."
