The victim of a shooting in Pensacola nearly three weeks ago died overnight.

Rohin Travis was shot in his front yard on North Madison Drive Aug. 26.

"He was a son, he was a father of two kids he has a baby on the way and he was a victim in this issue,” said Laura Merritt, a local advocate for Travis and his family.

Travis was hospitalized, but as time passed his condition deteriorated.

Merritt said Travis died at a hospital early Wednesday morning.

"As of yesterday he was running a fever, having some infection going on. They took the breathing tube off, he was breathing for about 24 hours and he passed at four o'clock this morning."

Now his family and friends want justice.

Authorities have not arrested a suspect yet, but they are looking to question Robert Barnes II regarding the case. It’s unclear how he may have been involved.

"We need for the public to stand up. We know somebody heard something, saw something,” said Merritt.

She now has this message for the community.

"I'm tired of RIH I'm tired of RIP I'm tired of candlelight vigils, I'm tired of doing funerals. My goal right now is to stop the violence in Pensacola and I can't do it by myself. It takes a community,” said Merritt.

If you have any information about this case, call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers at 433-STOP.
