A man wanted for a home invasion in Walton County has been captured in Houston County, Alabama.

According to the report, 36-year-old Richard Kelley armed with a knife and hammer, entered the home of a woman in Freeport on October 16 and physically assaulted her, then he fled on foot.

The report says Kelley assisted the victim less than 24 hours with a flat tire on the side of Highway 331.

Walton County Sheriff's Office (WCSO), tells Channel 3 News their deputies and surrounding law enforcement agencies have been tracking Kelley who had connections in Walton and Jackson Counties.

The report states, Kelley went to extremes to hide his identity by cutting and dying his hair.

According to WCSO, shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday law enforcement agencies identified a location in Cottonwood, Alabama.

Kelley was taken into custody by officers and was transported to the Houston County Jail awaiting to be extradited to Walton County.

Sheriff Michael Adkinson said, “He’s [Kelley] back where he belongs, behind bars.”
