Walton County Sheriff's Office investigating homicide
SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (WEAR) —
Cynthia Gautreaux woke up Tuesday morning to a startling sight.
She saw a crime scene unfolding with nearly a dozen deputy cruisers on White Heron Drive in Santa Rosa Beach.
"It was very, very shocking," Gautreaux said. "They are quiet people. This is a quiet neighborhood so something like this is very shocking."
Walton County deputies said around 9 a.m. they got a call about a shooting.
When authorities got to the home, they found 30-year-old Clinton Street shot to death.
"He was a very, very nice guy, calm, cool collected," Gautreaux said.
Gautreaux was devastated by the news. She said her next door neighbor was a family man.
We're told he lived in a home on White Heron Drive with his fiance and her daughter.
The loss could also be felt around the community.
Street was the general manager at the Destiny Beach Properties, a local vacation rental company.
Coworkers said Street worked with the company for eight years and they were heartbroken by the news.
While it's unclear what the motive is, deputies said the killer and the victim knew each other and the violence was a domestic despute.
Two neighbors told Channel 3 News that Kevin Holroyd was the ex-husband of the woman who lived with Clinton Street.
"Not gonna comment on motive at this time," said Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson. "It's still an ongoing investigation, but as a point of clarification we do believe this is the sole person responsible for the homicide in Walton County.
Authorities have confirmed Street's death is linked to the shootout in Panama City.
