Wet weather expected over the weekend

Moderate to heavy rain possible overnight/Sunday morning.

The first weekend of February will consist of sunshine then rain and storms.

By Saturday evening/night through Sunday morning, numerous to widespread showers are looking likely, especially north of I-10.

Pockets of moderate to heavy rain will certainly be possible, which may lead to nuisance-type flooding in urban and low-lying areas.

Rain totals look to be around 0.50"-1.25", with locally heavier amounts up to 2"-3".

Heavy rain and gusty winds will be the main threats with any stronger storm.

Although organized severe weather is not anticipated, a marginally severe storm cannot be ruled out. We will be monitoring the situation carefully.

The heaviest rain can be expected overnight/early Sunday morning.

The rain should exit the area by late Sunday morning or early afternoon, leaving us with clouds and sun and mild conditions for Super Bowl Sunday. Pleasant weather returns on Monday with highs in the mid-60s and plenty of sunshine.
