
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 61-year-old man is charged with murder following a fatal shooting of a woman Wednesday in Escambia County.
Randall Laws was arrested on charges of first degree premeditated murder and weapon possession by convicted felon.
The incident happened late Wednesday nightin the 4000-block of Lillian Highway.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies determined a woman and another person were standing near the roadway when Laws shot her from the garage.
Deputies arrived on scene to find the woman with a gunshot wound. She later died at the hospital.
Laws and the victim were acquaintances, but this is not a domestic violence case, according to the sheriff's office.
Laws is being held in Escambia County Jail without bond.
No further details have been released.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Laws previously served a 10-year prison sentence on gun and aggravated assault charges before being released in 2019.
