ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 25-year-old man shot and killed a 25-year-old woman overnight at Mugs & Jugs in Escambia County, according to the sheriff's office.
It happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday at the bar on Scenic Highway. Family identifies the victim asTierra Binion -- a mother of twins.
Christian Ketchup, 25, of Pensacola, is charged for the murder. He is being held in Escambia County Jail on no bond.
The sheriff says an argument first began between Ketchup's girlfriend and Binion inside the bar. They then went outside to the parking lot and began fighting, which Sheriff Simmons described as "mutually combatant."
"During the fight, Christian Ketchup just jumps to [Binion] and punches her and knocks her aside," Sheriff Simmons said.
Binion was knocked out cold, according to the sheriff. Ketchup's girlfriend then started beating Binion on the ground, which is when Ketchup pulled out a handgun and shot Binion seven times.
Ketchup called deputies a short time after the incident and turned himself in.
Ketchup's girlfriend Rachel DeRise, 23, was charged with battery Thursday morning.
"The suspect, Ketchup, punches [Binion] -- he may have knocked her unconscious -- and then she jumped back on her and started punching her again," Sheriff Simmons said. "Obviously there's no reason to do that. You could have easily walked away. That's not a mutually combatant type situation."
The sheriff's office put out pictures Wednesday afternoon of possible witnesses and a vehicle possibly involved. The possible witnesses were asked to come forward with any info they have.
Mugs & Jugs released a statement late Wednesday afternoon on the incident, saying in part, "At this time we ask that these individuals refrain from any aggressive action or harassment of our employees. We ask for the patience of the community as we continue to work with local law enforcement on our next steps. We will be closed for the remainder of the day. We give our condolences to Tierra Binion and her family."
