Texas woman sentenced to 26 years in prison for sending explicit photo with baby
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - A Texas woman was sentenced to 26 years and eight months in federal prison after she plead guilty to a production of child pornography charge, a press release stated.
The U.S. Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Texas reported 33-year-old Janel Saphire Trahan allegedly took a photo of herself performing oral sex on a 2-year-old girl on Jan. 13, 2018.
She then sent the photo to husband. The next day, she sent a photo in a private group chat, the press release stated.
She was indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2018 following an investigation by the Beaumont Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and others.
U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown reported Trahan plead guilty to the charge in September 2018, a press release stated.
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, a press release stated.
