Niceville softball heading to final four

Their stats don't jump out at you, but there is just something about this Niceville team when things are on the line. They've made a habit of late comebacks, none bigger than in the Regional Semifinals against Tate, coming from down two runs in their final at-bat.

It's a young team overall, just two seniors, and five freshmen on the roster. Upperclassmen Hannah Gasaway and Meredith Milam are few in number, but high in impact.

The Eagles have played 189 innings and Katelynn Inness has pitched 181 of them. Much like the team as a whole the junior seems to be at her best when she needs to be.

Five players are hitting over .300 led by sophomore Grace McIntosh and it's Sydney Byrd who's really been on a tear of late. The junior missed the first part of the season recovering from shoulder surgery and is finding her groove.

The Eagles will face South Fork in the 7A state semifinals on Friday in Vero Beach.
