Pace High baseball team reaches state championship game
FORT MYERS, Fla. (WEAR) —
Pace Baseball has played with great poise down the stretch this season and it was no different at the State Final Four in Fort Myers.
The Patriots beat Tampa Leto 5-3 in the 7A semifinals to reach Thursday's State Championship Game.
Izzy Ham delivered two RBI singles as Pace built a 4-0 lead through four innings. Pace starting pitcher Brandon Sproat retired ten straight at one point and had a no hitter going through four innings.
The Falcons finally got to him for three runs in the 5th to pull within a run. Christian McCullough would slam the door in relief, giving up only two hits over the final two plus innings.
JC Peacher, Aidan Gilroy and Chase Bragg added RBI hits for the Patriots. Pace will play Venice in the title game, with a chance to take home the programs fifth championship, and first since 2010.
