Lockridge excited to be Yankee
Being a Major League Draft pick is definitely a dream come true. For Catholic High grad Brandon Lockridge to be chosen by the most storied franchise out there is even better. Lockridge grew up a Yankees fan, and is now part of their organization after being drafted by the New Yorkers in the 5th round
Coming out of Catholic in 2015 Lockridge went undrafted, but after three college seasons at Troy his stock clearly soared.
A starter from day one at Troy, Lockridge quickly proved himself and led the team in hitting as a sophomore.
Even at that point he says this scenario didn't seem realistic, until matching up against top level division one talent at the prestigious Cape Cod league last summer.
"It kinda helped me realize that I stick in with that talent", said Lockridge. As well as being a consistent hitter, Lockridge brings stunning speed, they say one of the fastest guys in the draft.
He played both infield and outfield at Troy, and the Yankees will consider him at both spots. The ultimate goal of being a major leaguer is clearly within his grasp.
