Marquee win for UWF

UWF Football

What a difference a year makes for UWF.

Embarrassed by North Alabama last season when they were down 48-3 at the half, the Argos show they are for real, blowing out that same Lions program on Saturday.

In just year two of playing football to take down the defending national runner-up is a huge deal.

North Alabama is not quite what they were last season, but still one of the conference elites and UWF controlled the game start to finish in a 30-7 win.

The defense held the Lions under 200 yards and sacked them seven times.

Mike Beaudry, the freshman quarterback, just keeps getting better. He threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns.

UWF is now 6-3 and clinches their first winning season, but there's more.

If they can upset West Georgia in the regular season finale, the Argos could get in the Division-II playoffs.

It's an off the charts possibility for such a new program.
