UWF was high on confidence to kick things off, but adversity hit hard early. Mike Beaudry threw interceptions on the first two possession, and third before the 1st quarter was up.

The Argos defense was up to the task though.

A Johnathan Coleman sack stopped one drive and PHS grad Jalen Spencer coming up with a touchdown-saving play on another.

Despite prime chances the Wolves coming away with no points in the first half.

Beaudry would find the form late in the half, he hit on six straight passes, the big one going for 46 yards to Antoine Griffin, and the last one to Tate Lehtio for a touchdown with 13 seconds left.

West Georgia came out flying in the second half, long kickoff return to stat would set up their first touchdown to tie it, and then Beaudry’s fourth interception set up another score.

Suddenly the Wolves led 14-7. The Argos find a spark on the 1st play of the 4th quarter, a double pass, Beaudry to Griffin to Carlos Duclos to 46 yards, a play coach Pete Shinnick has been waiting to use for weeks.

It led to Leroy Wilson’s touchdown run and UWF ties things up at 14. A defensive stop and strong running by Chris Schwarz put the Argos in position for a 41-yard go-ahead field goal try from Austin Williams.

The kicker has been so good all season but had missed his first two field goal attempts today. He made it right down the middle to put UWF in front.

The Wolves tried to rally in the final seconds, but an interception by Marvin Conley seals the deal.

UWF’s amazing season continues as they beat West Georgia 17-14. It moves them into the national quarterfinals at West Alabama next week.
