Wahoos drop season opener in Mobile

It was an unusual start to the Wahoos season in a couple of key ways. They opened on the road for just the second time in seven seasons, and they also lost for just the second time.

Jody Davis’ debut as manager ended in a 9-4 loss in Mobile. A seven-run second inning, including two home runs, was the pivotal moment for the BayBears.

Daniel Wright, making his return to the Wahoos after spending parts of the last two seasons in the majors, gave up seven earned runs in two innings to take the loss.

Nick Longhi led the offense going three for four with two runs scored. Gavin Lavalley added a two-run single.

The five-game series in Mobile continues through Monday. The Wahoos home opener is Wednesday.
